Testing (Assessment) Psychologist

Tailwinds Psychology is a growing group psychology practice serving individuals and families throughout the western suburbs of Chicago. Our mission is to provide responsive, high-quality, and evidence-based psychological care with a team-oriented and values-driven approach. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented licensed testing psychologist to join our team and grow with us.

Position Summary

We are currently hiring full-time licensed testing psychologists to administer high-quality psychological and neuropsychological evaluations for clients across the lifespan. Common referral concerns include depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism, PTSD, and learning and personality disorders. The results of these evaluations are frequently used to determine eligibility for academic accommodations, workplace supports, and state or federal benefits.

Testing psychologists are expected to:

  • Competently administer, score, and interpret industry-standard intelligence, neuropsychological, mood and anxiety, personality, and trauma measures
  • Integrate findings into comprehensive, client-centered evaluation reports
  • Communicate results with sensitivity, clarity, and clinical insight during feedback sessions with clients and families

Full administrative support is provided, including scheduling, billing, credentialing, marketing, and AI-enabled documentation tools (with client consent), allowing clinicians to focus on high-quality clinical assessment.

Compensation Structure

We offer either a salaried or performance-based compensation schedule with transparent growth tied to tenure.

Salaried compensation schedule:

  • Year 1: $120,000
  • Year 2: $130,000
  • Year 4+: $140,000

Performance-based compensation schedule:

  • Year 1: $120,000–$170,000
  • Year 2: $130,000–$185,000
  • Year 4+: $140,000–$200,000

Performance-based annual earnings range reflects conservative estimate of gross annual earnings for a psychologist completing an average of at least two testing evaluations per week.

Hiring Bonus

At Tailwinds, we respect and defend the legal right of clients to choose their mental healthcare provider, including the decision to follow their psychologist to a new practice. All new clinical hires who bring a testing caseload with them are eligible to receive a one-time bonus of $50 per established client.

Professional Autonomy

Tailwinds respects and affirms the ability of fully-licensed testing psychologists to provide high-quality evaluations and treatment according to their training and style. That’s why we include a professional autonomy clause in each of our contracts in which we legally commit to NEVER micromanage our psychologists’ approach to testing administration, client communication, or report writing.

No Non-Competes

At Tailwinds, we believe psychologists should control their careers, and clients should control their care. Contracts that force departing psychologists to practice beyond a certain “radius” restrict access to mental wellness for local clients who wish to continue to work with their psychologist, many of whom belong to protected client populations such as veterans and first responders. When it comes to mental healthcare, non-compete clauses aren’t just unethical; they’re illegal and unenforceable under Illinois law.

Tailwinds prides itself on the value it creates for clients and isn’t afraid of healthy competition. That’s why we don’t include non-compete clauses in any of our contracts.
