Therapy That Meets You Where You’re At — Literally
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a powerful, structured therapy designed to help people manage overwhelming emotions, strengthen relationships, and build a life worth living. Originally developed to treat borderline personality disorder, DBT has since proven effective for a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, and self-destructive patterns.
At its heart, DBT is about balance: learning to hold two truths at once — for example, “I’m doing the best I can” and “I want to do better.” It’s about understanding, accepting, and working with your emotions, rather than fighting against them.
Most of our therapy services are available through secure video sessions, including:
Individual therapy for adults, teens, and children (depending on age and developmental needs)
Couples counseling and parent consultation
Group therapy
Some components of psychological and neuropsychological assessments (such as intakes, interviews, and feedback sessions)
Note: For younger children or more complex evaluations, we may recommend a hybrid or in-person model to ensure quality of care.
DBT combines acceptance strategies with change strategies. You’ll learn to notice your emotional responses, tolerate distress, regulate your emotions, and communicate more effectively — all without judging yourself.
At Tailwinds, we offer individual DBT-informed therapy as well as skills groups. Whether you’re working through big emotions or smaller patterns that feel stuck, DBT can help you feel more grounded, understood, and in control.

DBT can be short- or long-term, depending on your goals. It typically involves weekly individual sessions and may include group therapy with skills training in areas like:
You’ll leave with practical tools, not just insight. DBT is active and engaging, with lots of real-life application.
If you often feel emotionally overwhelmed, find yourself stuck in cycles you want to break, or just want to learn how to better handle life’s ups and downs, DBT may be a great fit. It’s especially helpful if other forms of therapy haven’t quite worked or felt deep enough.
We’re here to help you find that balance between acceptance and change.
